Sorry to those who were interested in the IRC chat during the meeting.
Wireless was still down.
Discussion of about the new Solstice O.S. Install
Talk about installing the X package
Chad commented about the overhead of installing X and its libraries
- He would only install if there is enough people who are interested
in using it
- At least three people were interested
Chad suggested we change the SSH port from 22 to 2221
- There are about 2-3k SSH brute force attempts at port 22
- While it is not a good plan, it is probably the best option at
this time
- Is everyone okay with this change?
Budget Meeting
We got everything we requested for the budget
We got the:
- Microcontroller board
- Door latch
- Pico-ITX motherboard
- Parts and wires
$816.40 was the total budget that we allotted
Club Website
Due to time constraints Ryan didn't had enough time to sit down and do
some rough coding
Chad commented that there's plenty of time to continue/start
the prototyping of the website
Forest has offered to assist with the graphics and coding of the website
Robotics
First Robotics
Forest is part of a team that works with high schools build robots for
competitions
He started the Rutland H.S. group for this kind of competition
Email
There was a complaint about the number of emails coming through the
mailing list.
Chad mentioned there are two options: Digest and Regular modes
BOINC
Brad stated that I.T. has failed yet again to put the Rosetta@home
project on the lab computers
There was mention about the Computer Club machines
Ryan stated that he signed out a key from Student Council to the club
space
He checked on the computers in the club space and they were all running
LaTeX
Chad mentioned something about using LaTeX for documents
Forest questioned what was LaTeX
Chad showed off an example of a LaTeX document and how it works

Music Automation Server for the Radio Station
Community Service
Some volunteers should teach some 1 hour lectures about the basics
of Linux
There are several classes that used to have a Linux ideology that no
longer teach Linux
Putty (via Windows), nano, grep, top, X, process handling,
compiling C with gcc, perl scripts, file permissions, /etc, /dev, etc.
